Event #6: Tiburón Golf Club (Gold)

Tiburón Golf Club (Gold Course) played host to the final QBE Shootout Summer Series event of the year this past Saturday, October 7th. The finale featured a field of 48 two-person teams; including many of the top contenders in the overall point’s standings.

Heading into the day many competitors were within striking distance to claim one of the four coveted Summer Series Grand Prize packages --- Scotty Cameron Putter, two invitations to the QBE Shootout Pro-Am Pairings Party and two memberships to the Greg Norman Estates Shark Club.

At the end of the day it was; Abbie Valentine (375), Scott Blackburn (315), Drew Isaac (314) and Peter Swift (291.25) claiming the prizes after impressive performances, and ultimately solidifying their spots at the top.

As for the event: In the gross division the team of Rob Carroll and Tim Sunyog took first place with a 67. Second place was won by Harvey Kulkin and Claudio Lopez who shot 70. Pat Cassidy and Drew Isaac came in third with 71 winning in a scorecard playoff. In the net division, the team of Neal Gaff and David Gilliland took home first place honors with a score of 61. Finishing second in the net division was the team of Neil Higgins and Wes Parkhurst, who posted a net of 63. Tyler Fox and Matt Sutter finished in third with a 64.

We had a strong turnout for the women’s division at Tiburón Golf Club. Carole Bek and Diane Simmons came in first shooting a 67. Brittany Crawford and Sherri Patchen finished second with a 69. Connie Haacke and Sara Reynolds came in third with a 71 after a scorecard playoff. All three teams were awarded QBE Shootout tickets and Shula’s Steakhouse gift cards after their outstanding play.

As event prizes, the 1st place teams of Carroll & Sunyog and Gaff & Gilliland won complimentary passes to the QBE Shootout’s Brew House, an upgraded hospitality suite located between the 8th & 17th holes on Tiburon’s Gold Course. They also each received a $100 gift certificate to Shula’s Steakhouse. Second and third place gross and net also received prizes compliments of Shula’s Steakhouse and the QBE Shootout.

This brings the 2017 QBE Shootout Summer Series season to a close. Congratulations to the four grand prize winners and all the event winners, and thank you to all the competitors who helped to make this year’s Summer Series a success!

QBE Shootout Summer Series

Entering its 7th consecutive year, the Summer Series has quickly grown into a staple on Southwest Florida's summer golf calendar. This exciting event series provides you and your partner with an opportunity to experience elements of competition similar to the PGA TOUR's QBE Shootout.

During each tournament round, this two-person team event will allow players to compete in the same formats that are featured during the QBE Shootout: Six holes of Modified Alternate shot, Six holes of Better Ball, Six holes of Scramble.

Points will be awarded after each event which will qualify players for a variety of unique prizes including the opportunity to have unprecedented access during the QBE Shootout, December 4-10, 2017. The series will feature both a Net and Gross division and points will be awarded both individually and as a team.
